How the “The Big Bad Wolf” found itself on the NME list of top 40 worst music videos is anyones guess, because without a doubt, this is by far the best music video of 2011.

The NME notes “Don’t get us wrong, we’re fans of NSFW. And we love a bit of surrealism in our music vids. But this is just the wrong kind of wrong. Whatever kind of mind conceived this sub-Plastic Little carnival of face crotch weirdness needs to be locked up a lot of miles away from us thank you very much. By all means make bizarre promos to get our attention if you can’t be arsed to make a proper track, but this is just all kinds of no.”

But this ‘face crotch weirdness’ the NME is clearly so offended with, is exactly what makes this video truly brilliant. It’s shocking, its cringeworthy, and is perfectly apt for the swagger tone of the song.

The song in itself is catchy, simple and  can be interpreted in many ways. The video however has  interpreted this song with a narrative which is truly sublime. Released on Rolling Stone on October 24th,the video follows two men as they go to a club, pick-up and hook-up — with the Duck Sauce Dance DJ duo A-Trax and Arman Van Helden heads between their legs. The concept is risqué and bizarre, but it pushes the envelope and its been a long time since we have been graced with a music video that is actually interesting. As Dj Armand Van Helden says  “Remember when dance music videos used to actually be creative? Like when you think back to Aphex Twin, Fatboy Slim and Daft Punk… I don’t know why the genre’s videos became so generic in recent years’.

Great video, awesome song 5/5. We are looking forward to seeing what else they have to offer with their forthcoming album.

Keep and eye out for the release of their first album, titled Quack, next spring.

Enjoy! And be warned, probably not suitable for younger viewers.
