Justin Timberlake is finally back, but is it with the big musical bang so many of his fans were hoping for? Sadly for me, it isn’t. J.T always fills me with a feeling of deep nostalgia, and I think back wistfully to the days when the iconic red tea cosy hat of “Like I Love You” was sexy, and when it was cool to attempt the classic “Rock Your Body” beatbox. Yes, we hear the familiar falsetto voice of Timberlake over deep R&B grooves in his come back single “Suit and Tie”,  but it is certainly lacking something. Something, aside from the lack of percussive sounds which punctuated his previous albums, which I cannot quite pinpoint, and I am not convinced Jay-Z adds much to the song other than an additional big name. It is good to know Justin Timberlake is making music again, let us just hope that his upcoming album The 20/20 Exprience will pack more punch.

Overall, a relatively pleasant track, but perhaps it will sound better amidst the sultry temperatures of summer.

54,414,442 hits on YouTube! Really? I don’t hate the track, but it’s certainly too cutsie and Katy Perry for my likings-I would definitely have a complete cringe attack if this came on in a club! 4 weeks at number one and a lot of hype, Carly Rae Jepsen is evidently the lady of the moment…though having watched the video a few times myself, I do have sneaky suspicion a few of those hits may be a result of a certain bare torso hottie seductively backing the h20.

Whoops…Wrong Video!

I haven’t made my mind up about this song yet. Similar to how I felt about the DJ Fresh ft.Rita Ora newest track “Hot Right Now”, there are just some songs that you neither like or dislike upon first hearing them - they fall in the potential grower category, meaning it may eventually remain somewhere lost in your YouTube history, as opposed to blasting out of your stereo. For a track that has been criticised for being too mainstream, for the first 14 seconds the track is awesome, it has a very distinct grime feel to it and appears to be building up to an equally impressive chorus…but then the chorus kicked in (as opposed to the expected ’drop’) and it was somewhat lost. After I heard the lyrics ’are you not entertained?’, as you can tell from the above video, I was slightly distracted  by this reference to the Gladiator. Dot Rotten’s lyrics throughout all the verses are excellent and one cannot dispute his talent, I simply dislike the sound of the chorus, it has a ’done before’ feel to it, and as such the overall song fails to keep up the hype grimey dub intro to the track. I am not surprised this track is popular in the radio charts at the moment and I must admit the more I listen to it the more I like it, hence the ‘potential grower’ rating.

The new single from Dot Rotten is available to download on 5th March 2012.

Skream needs no introduction or review-this is how it’s done!
